Conservation Project

May 2016: An update to the news post below – the questionnaires have been processed and we are holding a vision day in church on 3rd July 2016 to help continue formulating our strategy for the future.

February 2016: A big thank you to all those people who have replied to the Facilities Questionnaire in recent weeks.  Over 100 people have filled out either the paper or on-line questionnaire.
All the data is now being processed and we hope to have a report ready for the St. Mary’s AGM 13th March.

January 2016: Did you know? …. The church family and the wider community has the opportunity to have their say on potential alterations to the interior of the church building. Some of you will be aware of the aims of the Conservation Project, outlined in leaflets which have been available in church since April 2015. There are three key areas on which we wish to focus: north phase roof repair project; south phase roof repair project and the improved facilities project. The Conservation and Renewal Project Team launched a questionnaire recently which is designed to gauge the views of the people who really matter – you. Questionnaires are available at the back of church or online via https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/J6VXP6F The deadline for responses is 31st January 2016 and we would love to hear what you think.

She got a wonderful cheer and shout as her name was announced.

It was a wonderful evening celebrating the inspirational local heroes of our Horsham community and an opportunity to thank and honour Joyce for her service and love to our church.Joyce Brown Wins Award

All Soul’s Evensong and Service of Commemoration 1st Nov 6.30pm

All are welcome to this special service of Evensong – when we remember and give thanks for the lives of those whom we have known and loved, who have died.

No Christian is solitary. Through baptism we become members of one another in Christ, members of a company of saints whose mutual belonging transcends death:

One family, we dwell in him,

one Church, above, beneath;

though now divided by the stream,

the narrow stream of death. (Charles Wesley)

All Saints’ Day and the Commemoration of the Faithful Departed on All Souls’ Day both celebrate this mutual belonging. The Commemoration of the Faithful Departed celebrates the saints in a local and intimate key, as we remember our own loved ones with thanksgiving before God.

You will be given a commemorative card (as you arrive for the service) on which you are invited to write the names of those who you would like to be remembered.  If you would like these to be read out during our prayers of intercession please hand this to one of the sides-people during the service.  If you would like a name read out and are not able to be present at the service please contact the church office in advance.

During the Choir Anthem there will also be an opportunity for you to come forward to light a candle in loving remembrance and thanksgiving.

You are warmly invited to join us for refreshments after the service, which will be served in Church.

If you would like to have a loved one’s name permanently inscribed in our Book of Remembrance, which is free of charge, please speak to one of the clergy at the end of the service, or contact the Church Office.

We hope that this service brings you comfort and peace and may God bless you.
