The Aims of Detached Youth work/Youth Support Team:
We meet young people where they are at, on their ‘patch’ and their terms as we wander around various areas where they are gathering. We help young people feel safe. We promote socially acceptable behaviour, we signpost them to advice on issues such as drugs, alcohol, sexual health, careers, activities. We also try to reduce the fear of crime, by them knowing there is someone out there for them, and we provide a listening ear, and for some these days, they don't get that as often as they should.
Poverty and homelessness:
Do the things that break our Lord’s heart also break yours? Do you want to fight the injustice that is homelessness? Would you be willing to open your home to those who have none? Horsham Churches Night Shelter and the ARK are looking for big-hearted people to help make a real difference in someone’s life. The Night Shelter closes on 28th February and we are looking for people who can provide on-going accommodation for guests whom we have not yet been able to get into any form of housing. We would provide training and on-going support in order to make this a really positive and beneficial arrangement to those marginalised by our society. If this is something you would be willing to consider please e-mail nightshelter@horsham-matters.org.uk.
