St Mary’s Bell Ringers
The bells have been rung here at St Mary’s since 1766. We are very fortunate to have an active and enthusiastic band of 30 bell ringers. With an age range from 12 to 82 years old and experience ranging from beginners to highly advanced, we ring a minimum of 3 times per week.
We welcome new ringers of all experience and ability. We offer full training, lots of support, a full social calendar of events and loads of opportunities to ring of course!
Sunday Service ringing times
09.25 – 09.55
16.30 – 17.55

Special Occasions
We are ring for National Events (death of a sovereign, armistice day or to commemorate other major events), weddings and funerals. Please note that these may occur on other days of the week than our usual ringing sessions. We are also happy to ring a quarter peal for an anniversary of special occasion for you.
Please check the ‘What’s On’ page for details of upcoming dates and times when ringing may be taking place in addition to those mentioned above.
Occasionally the bells may also need to be rung as part of ongoing maintenance for the upkeep of our historic bell tower.
