“God Deals with the Destroyer” – Speaker: Revd. Paddy Beresford (Vicar of St John’s Church)
All are welcome to this Service of Christian Healing held in St Mary’s on 12th Oct 6.30pm. We come together to seek God’s blessing and his healing of soul, mind and body. We believe that he wants to make us whole. The commission of Jesus to his followers to heal the sick is as relevant today as it was then. There is no limit on the love and power of God and we should all open ourselves to the blessings which he wants us to receive. We all need some measure of healing, either for ourselves or for someone else—in the form of inner peace, stronger faith, or the removal of physical symptoms.
We believe that everyone will receive a blessing and healing in one form or another in this service. God is faithful and keep his promises and so we shall receive from him that healing which we need.
Being a carer can be a full-time job and, although very rewarding, can be both exhausting and frustrating. A support group is an opportunity to give voice to some of our emotions, feelings and fears in a safe environment. It is also an opportunity to learn from each other – there is nothing like practical hands-on experience! The Pastoral Visiting Team may be able to enable you to come by being with the person you care for while you are out. Meetings are on the second Monday of each month: 13th October, 10th November and 8th December 2.30pm in the Leslie Room in St Mary’s. It is hoped that the meeting on 13th October will be attended by a speaker from the Carers Wellbeing Service. For details please call the church office.
These roles are for up to five months (November to March) and can be flexibly divided to ensure seven day cover. For full details of the role and an application form, please contact Ruth Hodgson on email@example.com.
Starting Wed October 8th 7.45pm: A 6 week group for parents and carers of teenagers. Her Licensing service for her new post of Vicar of St. Leonard’s and Parish Missioner will be on Monday 6th October, 7.30pm at St. Leonard’s, Horsham. All are most warmly invited to be present.
EMERGENCY APPEAL – Christian Aid – Gaza Crisis Appeal: 1.8 million people in Gaza are directly affected by the violence between Israel and Hamas. Help us reach those in desperate need by donating via the envelopes on the pews or available at the back of church. Following a 72-hour ceasefire, Christian Aid’s partners on the ground are accessing areas previously cut off from any kind of humanitarian assistance. They aim to reach 20,000 people with safe water, and provide essential healthcare and treatment. As of 5 August, at least 1,312 Palestinian civilians, including 408 children, have been killed in the Gaza Strip during Israel’s month-long offensive. An estimated 273,000 people have been forced from their homes and are sheltering in UN-run compounds. www.christianaid.org.uk
